Meet Our Team

Dr. McGowan
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. McGowan has always had a soft spot for animals and a natural curiosity about science and medicine, so bringing those passions together in her career felt like the perfect fit! She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph before graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in June 2006.
Over the years, Heather has worked in equine medicine, but today her focus is on small animal care. She especially enjoys the challenges and rewards of ultrasound, and has also developed a deep passion for shelter medicine. Heather is proud to serve as President of the Saga Humane Society in Belize, where she volunteers several times a year to support the mission of preventing cruelty to animals and promoting kindness.
Heather has also owned Glanbrook Veterinary Services for over 10 years, and takes great pride in leading a high-quality community practice that cares deeply for pets and the families who love them.
At home in Caledonia, Heather lives with her husband Dave and their twins, Will and Lucy, who are now fifteen years old. Life is lively thanks to her three dogs—Emmie, Dori, and Ronnie—and her four cats: Petey, Pedro and Jack (both rescues from Belize), and Zee. All of them are rescues, and they bring endless joy and energy to the household. When she’s not spending time with her family, Heather loves solving puzzles, walking her dogs, practicing pilates, and playing hockey.
For Heather, veterinary medicine is more than a job—it’s a calling. Every day brings new adventures, and she feels grateful to be able to make a difference in the lives of pets and the people who love them.
